About the role | Te kaupapa
Whitireia and WelTec are seeking a Tutor for the Bachelor of Counselling and Addictions Programme.
The position is based at the Porirua campus and will provide the successful applicant(s) with an opportunity to be part of a committed team who prepare ākonga who are able to practice professionally according to the values and ethics of the Addiction Practitioners’ Association, Aotearoa-New Zealand (DAPAANZ) and the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). On completion of the programme, ākonga will be eligible to apply for provisional membership/ registration with DAPAANZ, NZAC and the New Zealand Christian Counsellors Association (NZCCA).
The successful applicant(s) will have the ability and experience to prepare ākonga to work in the fields of health promotion, policy, clinical intervention, trauma, and support work promoting well-being and harm reduction to individuals, families, whanau and communities. The position is based in Porirua.
The successful applicant(s) must possess the following:
- A qualification at least one level higher than the programme being taught
- Current or eligibility to register with DAPAANZ, NZAC or with a similar body.
- Teaching experience in Counselling and Addictions, or in a relevant field at tertiary level.
- Evidence of an ability to work with ākonga and kaimahi from differing academic and cultural backgrounds and at all levels of the institution.
- Current knowing of different clinical skills and approaches including Māori and Pacific, research and policy.
- Practice experience as a Counsellor, or similar role.
- The ability to contribute to the teaching and development of the programme.
- An adult teaching qualification is preferred.
