The School of Innovation Design and Technology at Whitireia and WelTec is seeking to appoint two fixed term Engineering Tutors to teach on our 2026 Bachelor of Engineering Technology.
This position is based at the Petone campus but may also include work at our other Wellington campuses from time to time as required.
Key responsibilities include facilitating teaching, learning and assessment, management of resources relating to course delivery and working as a member of the Built Environment and Engineering team.
We are looking for someone who is keen to pass on their knowledge, is enthusiastic about learning and education and has a positive attitude towards working with ākonga.
A strong customer focus with demonstrated ability to be both flexible and professional is essential along with strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
Applicants will be required to pass a Ministry of Justice Criminal Convictions Check in order to work with young people and ideally hold a current driver’s license.
These roles are available until July 2025 and December 2025, although shorter terms may be considered.

Civil Detailing and Modelling
Hydrology and Erosion
Engineering Development Project
BIM
Engineering Professional Practice

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
A minimum qualification of a Honours Degree in Engineering
Teaching experience
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong customer focus
Demonstrated ability to be adaptable
Relevant New Zealand experience in Engineering Management and Professional Engineering Practice
Knowledge of computing software including:
AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D for civil and BIM work
MATLAB, Python, Excel for engineering mathematics and computing applications
Desirable:
Adult Teaching Qualification
Current NZ Driver’s License
Experience working in a tertiary education environment
PhD or Master’s degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline
