Master of Design Tutor

We’re seeking an innovative Master of Design tutor to help launch our Master of Design (MDes) programme. You’ll guide postgraduate students to create research-led, interdisciplinary work, contribute to curriculum development, and support projects that bridge theory and applied design across media and technology, and professional contexts.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Mandatory: PhD (Level 9) in Digital Media & Design and/or Film
  • Mandatory: Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising Master’s level programmes
  • Mandatory: Proven record of research outputs (exhibitions and/or publications)
  • Optional: 2–5 years professional studio or freelance experience

Expertise & Skills:

  • Broad understanding of contemporary design fields, including animation, film, game, graphic, fashion, product, photography, printmaking, and visual arts
  • Ability to supervise and support ākonga across a range of disciplines
  • Experience guiding research activities, including library use and ethics approvals
  • Competence with digital design tools and physical art-making processes
  • Strong communication, flexibility, and leadership skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of students across diverse topics and adapting curriculum as required to support their learning and research
  • Complete assessment, moderation, and results reporting
  • Provide consultation on potential Master of Design pathways in China
