International Marketing Specialist

Permanent, Full-time Role


This role supports the Head of International, Innovation and Industry Engagement to provide efficient operational support for the marketing, recruitment and financial functions of Whitireia and WelTec that became a Business Division of Te Pūkenga - New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (Te Pūkenga), International Team, to help assist Te Pūkenga to achieve its strategic goal of maximising international student enrolments and developing long-term, sustainable relationships with Recruitment Agents, International Partners and other key stakeholders.

The International Marketing Specialist will work closely with the Digital Marketing Specialist in Wellington to assist with other business, financial and administrative functions to ensure efficient international operations and ongoing sustainable financial growth.

The person we’re looking for will have a tertiary qualification (or similar), with relevant marketing and recruitment experience, including exposure to international education markets/channels, ideally including the following key competencies:

  • Experience in a relevant/similar role, with a proven track record of getting results in a marketing and recruitment, communications and/or event management environment.
  • Experience in developing creative copy and managing digital/social media platforms
  • Experience in use of design software - InDesign, Photoshop and/or Illustrator
  • Experience in market research and reporting, preferably in a tertiary education provider setting.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service focus and well-developed relationship management capabilities; and
  • Experience in international business and/or the wider NZ education marketplace.

The ideal candidate will also have experience in the field of international marketing and student recruitment. This will be coupled with excellent communications skills, and experience in managing a broad range of customer relationships, including the following key competencies:

  • International recruitment agent administration.
  • Contract administration.
  • Financial administration and payment processing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, financial software and student management systems.
  • Proficiency in use of design software
  • Event co-ordination; and
  • Agency/partner relationship management.

Your excellent creative, technical and communication skills, including the capacity to interpret data and forecast future trends, coupled with a well-developed ability to provide tailored and insightful marketing content, are among the core skills required.
