Right now we are after an Electrical Tutor to become part of our institutions supporting our vision and values based at our Petone campus.

About the role | Te Kaupapa

Key responsibilities include facilitating teaching, learning and assessment for electrical students at pre-trade and apprentice level night classes, with courses including a strong hand-on practical learning component.

Teaching qualifications and experience are not essential for this position, however preference will be given to applicants with some ability in teaching, coaching or mentoring youth or young adults e.g. supervising apprentices or other workers on the job.

Successful applicants without teaching qualifications will be supported to achieve the Diploma in Tertiary Learning and Teaching or similar tertiary teaching qualification through on-job training and development.

Applicants should be registered electricians with broad industry experience, and a relevant qualification (e.g. a New Zealand National Certificate or Advanced Trade Certificate and/or NZCE).

The role is based at WelTec’s main campus in Petone, the hours of work could be from 40hours per week between 8am to 8:30pm. Applicants will be required to pass a Ministry of Justice Criminal Convictions Check in order to work with young people and should hold a current driver’s license.
